Dental emergency in Lakewood?
Call us. We strive to see emergencies the same or the next business day, and we hold time in the schedule for exactly this.
Go to an emergency room, not to us, if:
Also go to the ER for uncontrolled bleeding you cannot stop with pressure, or a high fever alongside facial swelling. These need a hospital, not a dental chair. Call 911 if breathing is affected.
What counts as a dental emergency
If you are not sure, call anyway. Sorting that out is our job, not yours.
See you today
Severe or uncontrolled tooth pain, facial swelling, a knocked-out or displaced tooth, dental trauma, or bleeding that will not settle. We work these into the day regardless of how full it is.
Today if we can, next business day at the latest
A broken tooth or restoration that has become sensitive, a lost filling that hurts, or a suspected infection without visible swelling.
Within the week
A lost crown or filling with no pain, a minor chip that is not sensitive, or a cosmetic concern. Still worth a call — small problems get cheaper the earlier they are caught.
What to do until you get here
Pick it up by the crown, never the root. Rinse it gently with water — do not scrub it. If you can, put it straight back in the socket and bite on a clean cloth. If not, keep it in milk or in your cheek and get to us immediately. The first hour matters more than anything else you can do.
Rinse with warm salt water and floss gently either side in case something is lodged there. A cold compress on the outside of the cheek helps. Take whatever pain relief you normally take safely. Do not hold aspirin against the gum — it burns the tissue.
Rinse your mouth and keep any pieces. Cold compress on the outside to limit swelling. Avoid chewing on that side, and avoid very hot or very cold food and drink.
Keep the crown if you have it and bring it with you — it can often be re-cemented. Temporary dental cement from a pharmacy is fine for a day or two. Super glue is not; it makes the tooth harder to save.
Call us the same day. Dental infections do not resolve on their own and they can spread fast. If swelling reaches your eye or affects swallowing or breathing, go to an emergency room instead.
Clean the area gently, apply firm pressure with a clean cloth, and use a cold compress. If bleeding does not stop after fifteen minutes of steady pressure, go to an emergency room.
General first-aid guidance only. It is not a substitute for being seen, and it does not replace advice from your own clinician.
Emergencies and cost
We will tell you the price before we treat, the same as any other visit. If you are in pain, we will get you comfortable first and talk about the plan afterwards — nobody makes a good decision while their face hurts.
We are in network with most major PPO plans and we accept Colorado Medicaid. No insurance? Ask about the membership plan, or we will quote you the out-of-pocket figure up front.
Call the office on 720-909-3019 and say it is an emergency. If we are closed, leave a message with your name and number and what is happening.
That is fine — we see emergency patients who have never been in. Call and we will get your details over the phone so you are not filling in forms while you are in pain.
Let's get you a time this week.
Book online in about a minute, or call and we'll find you a slot while you're on the phone.
